4/20/10 - Sunbirds Beat Royals and Rain

Fresno, CA- Sneaking in all their matches before the rain had a chance to stop them, the Royals took on No. 1 Fresno Pacific in an away match. The top ranked Sunbirds lived up to their status and gave the Royals no way to gain any ground, causing them to lose 9-0. 

The only singles game win of the day belonged to Freshman Justin Sutherlin. He would have to make due with that one game however, because his opponent, Jose Hilla, refused to let anymore slip by as Sutherlin would lose 2-0 (6-1, 6-0).

On the doubles court, only Freshman Greg Cobian and Jerry Laureano came away with a game win. They took the sole game off opponents Denny Fafek and Hilla, but were unable to make the win count for more. Cobian and Laureano lost 8-1.

The win for the Sunbirds keeps their record at a stellar 17-1, 13-0 GSAC. The Royals (1-18, 0-13 GSAC) will play their final match of the season versus Point Loma Nazarene. First serve is at 4:00 pm on Tuesday at Cal State Fullerton.
