2/17/10 - Warriors Control Royals

By Stephanie Coats

Taking on NAIA No. 16 the Warriors of Westmont College, the Royals expected the match to be a difficult one. That assumption was proven true when, in spite of a good showing by the Royals, Westmont swept the match 9-0.

Freshman Jerry Laureano was able to get a set off his opponent Tiago Hayashi but it was not enough to clinch the match for him. The accomplishment on Laureano’s part is particularly significant considering he was unable to participate earlier in the day in his doubles match. His absence caused the Royals to give up a point to Westmont, which would help the Warriors on their way to winning the match for the day.
