Head Coach Ty Angel

The 2011 season is Head Coach Ty Angel’s third year coaching the Hope International Women’s Softball team.  Coach Angel believes an almost entirely revamped team will lead to success in 2011.

Last season, the Royals won six of their first eight games.  The highlights of the season were a 16-0 win over Siena Heights and a 6-2 win over Menlo with the game winning runs coming in the form of a grand slam homerun.  The Royals ended the year at 14-32.

Odd injuries and unusual circumstances derailed the chance for a big turn around in 2009- Angel’s first season as coach. The Royals finished the season 12-34.

After the departure of the previous coach in mid season, Angel, a prior assistant, took over as interim in 2008 just prior to the team’s trip to Tucson, Arizona. The Royals went 10-19 under his guidance as part of their overall 19-29 season.

Though he served as an assistant coach at Victor Valley High School in 2007, he really made a name for himself as the Head Coach of the California Titans 18u Gold Team. In 4 years, the Titans attended Nationals three times and won five tournaments. The stat he is most proud of is the fact that every member of the Titans went onto college.

Speaking of college, Angel graduated from California State University Fullerton in 1988 with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance.

Aside from coaching, Angel owns and operates Angel Financial Group. He and his wife Kelly live in Helendale with their two children- Caitlin, a Hope International Softball player, and Kyle.
