6/29/10 - Men’s Soccer Announces Schedule for 2010

Fullerton, CA- Director of Soccer Joe Lurker, beginning his fifth season leading the Hope International Men’s Program, has released his 2010 schedule.  The schedule shows the Royals playing in two of Southern California’s most storied soccer arenas- The Home Depot Center (home of the Los Angeles Galaxy) and Titan Stadium (home of the Titans and site of several international team friendly matches).

After two scrimmages with Long Beach City and the HIU Alumni, the Royals will officially open the season with a match against up and coming Marymount College.  That match will be played on the pitch of the Home Depot Center.

The following extended weekend, the Hope International Men travel to Northern California to square off with Menlo and William Jessup.

A match at La Sierra is first of three more matches on the road to be played the next week.  Matches against Simpson and Southwestern (AZ) at the NCCAA Classic hosted by The Master’s wrap up the week on the road.

The Royals finally play in front of their home crowd against Chapman which represents the final tune-up before heading into Golden State Athletic Conference play.

Fresno Pacific at home will be the opening challenge in the GSAC for the Royals.  Three GSAC teams, including The Master’s- the NAIA National Runner-up, finished in the top 15 in the NAIA last season.  A handful of teams finished the year receiving votes.

Though soccer in the GSAC is top notch, Coach Lurker decided to raise the bar another level as he accepted an invitation from NCAA Division I Cal State Fullerton to go head-to-head with the Titans.  As neighbors separated by just a street, the Royals call CSUF home for soccer.  But on Saturday, October 16, the Royals will be the visiting team playing under the lights of the stadium.
