1/26/10- Royals Off Target Against Eagles
La Mirada, CA- Though the Royals hit 70% of their shots from the free throw line, they managed to hit just 11% from behind the three point line as they fell on Tuesday 72-50 at Biola. Sophomore Lindsay Salazar’s 14 points was no near enough.
Neither team came out firing on all cylinders but the Royals (7-13, 2-8 GSAC) still built a 5-1 lead in the first 3:18 of the game. Lindsay Salazar hit a three pointer to get the Royals to five points. That three turned out to be one of only two three pointers made all night by the Royals.
Unfortunately, the game turned from good to bad in a hurry for the Royals as the Eagles (12-6, 8-2 GSAC) took charge with a 16-0 run.
The Royals spent the majority of the half trying to get their deficit back into single digits. They succeeded on three different occasions including at the break as they found themselves down 26-17.
A jumper by Junior Shauna Ricker bought the Royals within seven after a minute and a half of play in the second half.
Biola turned up the heat and outscored the Royals by 15 points the remainder of the game.
The Royals must now devise a game plan to slow down Point Loma Nazarene on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 5:30 pm in the Darling Pavilion.>> Back to Women's Basketball Home Page
