1/2/10- Too Much Planeta and Friends (Franz)

San Diego, CA- On Saturday night, Hope International returned to GSAC play and had the “privilege” of meeting up with #3 Point Loma Nazarene.  The Royals had no answer in the middle and fell 90-60.  Sophomore Lauren Salazar continued her hot play as she reached double figures for the fifth straight game with 13 points.

The Sea Lions (12-1, 3-1 GSAC) jumped out to a 9-0 lead before the seats were warm.

Turnovers were the pain in the Royals’ (4-8, 0-3 GSAC) side from the get go as three of their first four possessions were ended in that fashion including two on steals by the Sea Lions.  Eventually, the Royals finished the night with 26 turnovers (21 via PLNU steals).

Steals led to easy points for the Sea Lions either in the paint or on the break all night.

Lauren Salazar had eight first half points for the Royals but they were still down 48-26 at half.

Sophomore Lindsay Salazar dropped in 10 second half points on her way 12 points for the night.

Senior Sarah Nylander added seven in the second act to give her 12 points for the night as well.

For the Sea Lions, they only had two players reach double figures but they combined for 49 points.  Colleen Planeta had 28 while Amanda Franz had 21.

The one area the Royals stood their ground was in rebounds.  The Sea Lions out rebounded the Royals by one (44-43).

Tuesday will find the Royals back home for a meeting with #4 Vanguard.  Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 pm.
